Our Annual

Blessing of the Animals

On the first Sunday in October at 2pm each year, our congregation hosts a service of Blessing of the Animals (in 2022, the 29th one!).

All kinds of animals (and their human families) are invited.

The service honors the feast of St. Francis of Assisi, whose feast day is October 4. St. Francis was known as a lover of God's creation, and there are many stories recounting the special rapport the gentle Francis enjoyed with various animals.

At Grace we honor the Creator and support the lovers of animals in our community by raising funds for the Sandersville Animal Shelter.

We do this in two ways: through our ongoing Pennies for Paws  (aka Cash for Cats and Dogs) collections at several local businesses, and as a part of the Blessing of the Animals event.

Special Raffle and Door Prize

We are currently selling raffle tickets for a painting by local artist Elaine Burge. Proceeds from the raffle will go to the Sandersville Animal Shelter.

Many thanks to Elaine for donating one of her famed COW paintings!

Also, on the day of the event, all who attend will be registered for a gift certificate from a local veterinarian.
